April major crime stats shows Belize District is leading

Moments ago the police department released its major crime statistics for the month of April 2013. There were eleven murders in April; Belize City had six murders more than half the monthly total while Orange Walk and Toledo reported none. There were two rapes for the month in the Corozal and Stann Creek Districts. Twenty-three robberies occurred across the country; Belize and Cayo had the bulk with ten and eight recorded respectively. But the most telling and alarming statistic was burglaries. There was a whopping eighty-seven incidents occurring across the country and forty-three in the Belize district. Corozal and Toledo had four cases each; the least number of burglaries in the districts. The Belize District also leads the pack with forty-one thefts with Cayo and Stann Creek also in double digits. There were nine carnal knowledge cases reported for the month which were spread across the country. All in all, police report a total of two hundred and twenty-one major crimes for April.
