Woman who stabbed and killed B.D.F. freed

Leshawn Lino

At about seven-thirty on Wednesday night, a jury of seven women and two men concluded deliberations in the manslaughter trial of twenty-six year old Leshawn Lino. When they emerged after deliberating for about two hours and half, the verdict went in favor of Lino, the mother of three. The jury found her not guilty of the manslaughter of ex-common-law, Shamir Henry, a former B.D.F. soldier which occurred in September 2010. Their decision was not unanimous; it was at a proportion of eight to one, which was not enough to seal a conviction for prosecutor Kaysha Grant. Lino’s attorney made a no-case submission but the judge, Adolph Lucas Senior, thought there was enough evidence to send the matter to the jury. In her defense she told the court that on the day of the stabbing, Henry beat her and pulled out a knife.  She admitted there was a struggle for the knife but that she had no knowledge he had been injured. According to Lino, she was frightened and fled because she thought Henry was going to continue beating her. The jury then found her not guilty of Manslaughter.  She was represented by Attorney Bryan Neal.

I don’t buy her story, and NO MAN in Belize should close his eyes when she’s in the room. Like with an animal, after she killed the first time, it will be easier a second time.

At least there was a trial, and at least the jury decided the case, not a judge on a “technicality.” I’ll count that as progress.

Like a black widow spider. Men, beware her bite!

Why would a woman stay in what she claims is an “abusive relationship”? Just move out, and be strong enough to live alone until you can find a man who loves you and treats you well! I’d need a LOT of proof to accept that “defense,” if ever. Were there police reports of prior abuse? Medical reports of her injuries the night she killed him? Blood on her clothes? If so, whose blood was it? I wonder if the police collected that kind of evidence.

Unless the man is barring the door with a shotgun, just walk out and don’t look back. No need to take a life over because you feel abused.

So, every man, woman, and child in the country can learn a lesson from this tragedy, whatever happened — better to live alone than to stay in a twisted romance because you’re too weak to sleep alone. Only God knows what really happened here, and He’ll deal with it in due time, and permanently.

You seem to be a very level headed woman and very remorseful about the tragic situation that occurred with the death of this gentleman. Counseling and trying to get you life back on track is definately a step in the right direction. Keep your head up my BZE empress and don’t let no one bring your sprites down. Jah bless. The world needs more luv…

When you not in a abusive relationship you can say that it’s easy to step out and leave because your not the one that’s wearing the shoes size…and as for the person that said that a person shouldn’t trust her when she steps in the room “how dare you” you don’t know the entire story so keep your negative comment to yourself!
