Two Belizeans awarded Chevening scholarships
Two Belizeans have been selected to pursue graduate studies at top universities in the United Kingdom, courtesy of the British High Commission under the Chevening Scholarship programme. This year’s recipients are Melanie Gideon Vernon who will pursue a Masters of Science in Industrial Strategy and Trade Policy at Manchester University and Alyssa Noble who will study for a Masters of Arts in International Political Economy at the University of Warwick. Each year students are selected under the Chevening programme under the condition that they return to their country to contribute to the nation’s development. For News Five, Noble’s departure for England will be a significant loss … but the award comes as no surprise. She follows in the footsteps of reporters Janelle Chanona, Ann-Marie William and Deadra Isaacs, all previous recipients of Chevening scholarships.
