OCEANA Belize VP resigns because of squabble with UNIBAM advocate?

News Five has been unable to confirm reports that the very vocal Vice President of Oceana Belize, Audrey Matura-Shepherd, is stepping down from that position. But tonight there is speculation that if the rumors of Matura-Shepherd’s departure are true, it could be because of increased attention focused on her personal views in the wake of the case of Caleb Orozco versus the Attorney General of Belize. Matura-Shepherd came under fire following an article in the Amandala in which she was very outspoken against homosexuality. Attorney for Caleb Orozco, Lisa Shoman, took issue and using the social media, Facebook, asked Matura-Shepherd if her position expressed in the Amandala is the position of the principals of Oceana. According to Matura-Shepherd on her Facebook page, a person by the name of Kenrick Diaz then sent a note to her C.E.O. in Washington D.C. condemning her for those comments and claiming that those comments are, “really not what Oceana wants to have as their platform in any foreign country.” That was the end of the back and forth until rumors of her departure circulated today, and as a motive it is still just speculation.
You see how vindictive sum people in Belize are??…an Mr. Orozco wonders why he cant walk the streets of Belize City without a bodyguard…now wat in hell does UNIBAM have to do with Oceana??…seems like they are just trying to bring more international attention to the gay agenda in Belize…since they cant get their own way here…an they are certainly not afraid to sacrifice a couple hard working Belizeans doing good for this country…just because they have an opinion against gays…Mrs. Shepherd has been hard at work with Oceana to ensure that our seas an natural resources are being protected from greedy oil companies who want to destroy our jewel just for the sake of money…apparently someone wants to kill two birds with one stone here…get Mrs. Shepherd fired from Oceana and to get their agenda in the international community so that they could paint Belize and its laws as the bad guy here…
So what is Oceana’s platform? Since it is a foreign platform, then the entire platform needs to be re-evaluated by Belizeans. Perhaps, these platforms are not entirely in the best interest of Belize (at least parts of it). Wake up Belizeans.
What a happy day, IF she’s not VP anymore. But what a sad reason in the way it happened..Isnt this a free country where we have freedom of speech? Guys, do you see the victimization that this HOMO agenda is causing? Do you see how much damage this will do to our country? Even though I am not fond of Maturas endless arguments, I still believe anyone can say what their views are, and NOT be victimized!!!!! So, who will UNIBAM screw over next? This is a very precarious situation were living in if UNIBAM is so powerfull..People, please do not be deceived!

Don’t worry Audrey. God will lead you into greener pastures for your stand for marriage and family and for the country of Belize. After all it seems that Oceana was never interested in our oceans; they are a part of this worlwide global demonic agenda. They are only interested in sodomy. Perhaps they want to turn all our fish and marine life into homosexuals too.LOL
Belize: freedom of speech is deeply under treat and Belize is fast becoming re-colonized by foreign interest such as oak Foundation. Rise up Belize for future generations will not forgive us for it. I do not think we have another Audrey to lead Oceana and even if she is replace her replacement will not be able to speak his/her own will. A replacement will not be able to stand up to GOB; therefore GOB will therefore be able to have its way. Stand up Audrey form your own organization and we will continue to stand behind you.

I think Kenrick is a gay bird. Why would he do such a thing? Everyone has opinions of their own and has every right to voice them. Because of some crazy gay dude, Oceana Belize will lose one of its finest and very dynamic representatives. What a shame……

When you work for international organizations you have to learn to be silent about gay issues if you intend to stay on the job long.
One does not get to give three months notice if one is being fired. Seriously people, look at the facts and stop listening to the the fear mongers who think they can make you believe any lie if they shout it loudly and often enough. Audrey Matura RESIGNED. She was not fired! If her superiors at Oceana wanted her gone for her stupid comments suggesting homosexuality and bestiality were linked, she would have been terminated immediately. This has nothing to do with UNIBAM. Read her actual resignation and see for yourselves.

Outspoken, quite name! To be outspoken also demands that you use your God given brain. Not because one expresses their views about what has become a “national issue” it makes them an “appointee”. Belizeans need to learn that their dogma and personal opinion needs to be kept to themselves especially when they are spearheading international programs.
Gay Belizeans are Belizeans none the less and they are entitled to the protection and all the benefits as any other Belizean.

Well, well.. You know what they say about how high monkey climb… Audrey and Oceana got so used to being the voice on everything, eclipsing all other NGOs with their bold advocacy, huge check books, loud mouth, legal fights.. Like a flash in the pan, watch them fade away. Was the object really for the betterment of Belize, or for the fundraising capability of Oceana and the interest of their backers? Is offshore drilling; that which has enriched many a nation (Trinidad, Brazil, Venezuela, the US, UK, and on and on) really that bad, or was it only bad for special interests who actually fund Oceana? Why has Oceana not instead spend $ on teaching kids to not throw plastic bottles from bus windows? Because that doesn’t raise money & is not sexy. All I can say is good riddance Oceana and goodby Audrey; in your next role, use your admirable talent for advocacy for the true development of Belize.
It’s a sad day for Belize when foreign extremists can cause a person here to lose her job because of her personal moral beliefs.
We must face the truth, or lose control of our nation — we ARE under assault by foreign extreme groups that want to FORCE legalization of sodomy on us, gay marriage, abortion-on-demand, and a general assault on Christian values that are recognized in our Constitution. The UN – European – US homosexual front wants to “transform” Belize into their own colony, made in their gay image, a modern Sodom & Gomorrah.
The foreigners think we are an easy target because we are small, but they don’t understand our stubbornness and our commitment to our faith and values. We need to resist the homosexual re-colonization of our country, and rouse our church leaders to stand with us.
I don’t always agree with Audrey’s positions for Oceana, but that should be separate from her personal values and views, and I agree with them, and more importantly, her right to express them. It’s immoral to penalize a peson for exercising her RIGHT to speak her mind.
Oceana should refuse to accept herresignation, and give her a vote of confidence for the work she does for that organization. Or will Oceana now require all members to support sodomy?

As a public figure on teh enws almost nightly, Audrey should have never made such a statement and thought that it would not be linked to what she is alwyas on teh enws for. Oceana has zero tolerance on matters such as this. She shot her big mouth and was asked to apologize, She refused..so be it…do not now claim victimization when you made yourself teh victim. If she was that smart she would have never made teh comment and if so dumb when she made it, should have been smart enough to apologize for it when asked to do so. She just too big to be broken….so be it…she has her principles and Oceana is protecting theirs…all is fair.

It is a damn shame that things like this is happening in Belize. Even more shameful is when an educated attorney asks a person if here personal views is that of her employer and tehn fight to make someone loose their job over their opinion, someone that claims that people have a right to freedom of speech and that they stand and fight for everyones rights. We can clearly see the hypocrisy there no?
But that is the order of the day.. You can say what you want as long as you don’t talk against what they say and do.
I bet this may not hit the news at all outside of Belize.. Persecution goes both ways and this is a perfect example of how it works the other way around. Bully people into submission, you speak against us and we WILL destroy you for it one way or another.

There are many gay international supporters of oceana who do not like being compared to beastality. The question is, does oceana support homophobic ideas apparently not by the firing of shepard.
