More questions surrounding death of Kevin Francis

The uncle of deceased, sixteen year old Kevin Francis Jex, last Friday released information in which he alleges linked the police to his nephew’s death. Elton Jex claimed during a press conference at his house that he found out from another youth described only as Kareem, that he and Francis had robbed two people, including a police officer of a cellular phone and a bicycle. Jex went further. He said another friend of Francis had told him what he knew of the robbery and had given a statement to the police about the cell phone and the bicycle. News Five caught up with that person, Charles Neal, who goes by the name of Justin. Neal told us off camera that Francis had indeed admitted to committing the robbery and had taken the phone to him and asked him to unlock it. Justin added that Francis told him he had stolen the phone from someone he knew, but it was not a police officer. Instead it was a young lady, and he had refused to take back the phone to her when Francis asked him because he did not want to be linked to the incident. He said Francis took the phone and the bike that same Friday night. Meanwhile Francis’ girlfriend, who did not give us her name or an on camera interview, told us what she knew of the robbery that Francis was involved in before his death. And she too did not agree with the account by Jex that it was a police officer who Francis had robbed prior to his death.

“I noh know bout no bicycle cause ih never come yah wid no bicycle, only wah fone ih mi got. I noh know bout no police. I know ih mi rob wah gial ah ih fone.”

Neal also told us that he did give police a statement based on what he knows regarding the incident and the phone. When we asked him about the bicycle he said he thought the bike was still on George Street where Francis had left it the Friday night he stole it.
