Fonseca says Vega has many questions to answer

The destruction of the northern Mayan Archaeological Site of Noh Mul is still very much front and center, even after three weeks without charges being levied. Again, Deputy Prime Minister Gaspar Vega is caught up in a mess, since Noh Mul was destroyed by his close affiliate Denny Grijalva. And not only that, but it was destroyed to provide road fill for road works contracted by Vega for his constituency in the days prior to the village council elections. The Prime Minister extricated Vega when questioned, but Leader of the Opposition Francis Fonseca was not as complimentary.

Dean Barrow, Prime Minister [File: May 30th, 2013]

“What you are trying to do is to somehow tie him up with the company that carried out the excavation works. It is absolutely remote. If I hire a contractor to build my house and the contractor gets material from Noh Mul, you are going to lay blame at my door; especially if I have no knowledge? That’s not my concern.”

Francis Fonseca, Leader of the Opposition

“For the Prime Minister to get up and defend and to suggest that the deputy prime minister didn’t know about this and to compare what took place at Noh Mul to private persons building a house. This is the comparison he made; if you are building a house, you don’t know where the contractor is getting the material. Man these are public monies; these are not Dean Barrow’s money or Vega’s money. This is public funds being used to build roads and they have a duty and responsibility to know how that money is being spent, where that money is being spent. And so Mister Vega has a lot of questions to answer. And I not for a minute do I believe that he did not know what was taking place and where those materials were coming from. I do not believe that.

The Ministry of Archaeology has completed its part of the process which included presenting a report and evidence to the Orange Walk Police. We have tried unsuccessfully to get a comment from that Department for the past two days, as both the Officer Commanding and the second in command seem to be perpetually unavailable and nobody else is allowed to speak on the matter.

Let’s see Grijalva in steel bracelets for a start, and all the men who worked on the destruction of the relics.

Crimes such as this will eventually bring down the criminals in GOB, and they will have a chance to face popular justice. The sooner that day comes, the better it will be for the nation.

Of course no one is available to answer questions! Just another coverup by the current GOB. They all went to a class at the US Embassy on how to deny any involvement, and that they did not know anything. Obama is giving the class – he has lots of experience in this area from all the scandals that are happening in America. You know when a politician is lying – when their lips move….
Since the Police are run by the GOB, you will not get an answer until they come up with something that sounds convincing………
