Organizers call for Ms. Physique competitors

Story PictureBeing in the public eye can be tough but if you or someone you know can stand on stage wearing nothing but heels and a swimsuit, you’re exactly what the Women’s Physique Committee is looking for. The third annual Female Body Fitness competition will be held later this month and officials are doing the media rounds to encourage Belizean women to step up. This afternoon, coordinator Josephine Gault told us the rules of engagement.

Josephine Gault, Coordinator, Women?s Physique Committee
?Body figure is set up for two rounds of competition. One in a full swimsuit, and one in a bikini swimsuit. And all the competition takes is four quarter turns so the judges can assess the physique. All swimsuits have to be of solid colour and they have to cover more than half of the gluteus maximus. It?s a very decent competition so to speak. And they need to bring those two pieces of swimsuits, their heels and its two round of competition. Anybody that works out at the gym and has a good physique can participate. What we are looking for is a physique that is balanced, that is symmetrically developed and a musculature that is also well developed through athletic endeavours. I would like to ask all the young ladies who wish to participate to attend my meeting tomorrow at the City Centre at the Body Building Association?s gym at four p.m. That?s where they can learn more about the competition and what body figure actually is. If they want to sign up there and then they can. But it is very important that they do because four quarter turns sounds simple, but it takes a lot of practice. First prize is a thousand dollars, second is five hundred dollars and third is three hundred dollars.?

If you’d rather watch than participate, the show is set to take place on September fifteenth at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts. Tickets go on sale at the box office next week at ten dollars general, fifteen reserved and twenty for premium seating.
