Two detained for A.T.M. abduction/robbery
Two men are in police custody tonight in connection with last weekend’s brazen armed hold-up at a Belmopan A.T.M. According to police, the men are cousins but one lives in Belize City and the other in Dangriga. The duo was picked up earlier today during official investigations into the incident. We understand that the victim’s gold chain and Isuzu vehicle have also been recovered. Based on the outcome of an identification parade that was scheduled for this evening, the detainees will either be charged or released. Twenty year old Leon Castillo has reported that as he was leaving the First Caribbean A.T.M. in Belmopan around three on Saturday afternoon, two men approached him with a sawed off shotgun. After picking up a third man, Castillo was then taken to an area off the Hummingbird Highway and robbed of his fifty dollar withdrawal, a gold chain and then left tied to a tree. His assailants escaped in his S.U.V. The third suspect in the case is still being sought for questioning.
