Logger busted without valid permit

In the court today, twenty-five year old Shannon Borland, was intercepted along the Boston Village Road in February, in possession of seventy-two Botan logs without a valid permit. He appeared in magistrate’s court today. Borland told the court that he believes he was deceived by the owner of the premises, Amin Awe, from which he obtained the flitches. Interestingly, Awe has been in violation of the law prior to being granted his permit to remove logs because he used the same permit on several occasions….this was unbeknown to Borland. Nevertheless, Borland was alone inside the dump truck with the flitches when he was pulled over by police and asked to produce a permit. When Borland did, it was discovered that the document had expired three days earlier. He was escorted to the Ladyville Police Station and the matter was subsequently forwarded to the Forestry Department. In court, it was also stated that Awe has been in violation of the law prior to being granted his permit to extract log. Magistrate Adolph Lucas has reserved ruling on the matter until Friday. If convicted, Borland c1an be fined up to one thousand dollars.
Russell Longsworth should be charged not Borland, Borland truck was only hired by Russell Longsworth for transporting the flitches. The law in this country is really is out of order.
This is one $^*%-up country….Why not go arrest the owner of the seventy-two Botan logs …Well seems that only in Belize ….as they say Sh*t happens….all the time…
It is the guy who sold the logs that should be charged, how can the police charge a driver with illegal logging when all he did was transport them after being told there was a valid permit.
Another example of the police wasting taxpayers time and money trying to go for the easy target when they are just innocent dupes! Better to go after this Awe guy, but I suppose he is fireproof because he has connections?
Well it seems that in Belize you can be prosecuted for trying for trying to do an honest days work. Most of the crooks thieves and murders and politicians get away with untold crimes, but try and work honestly and you get prosecuted. It’s shooting the messenger. Borland was only hired to transport the logs.He’s not a LOGGER he’s TRUCKER. This country gan to r@$$.
