Missing tourist discovered dead near Spanish Lookout Caye

Search and rescue efforts for a tourist missing at sea ended this morning when his corpse was pulled from the water. According to police reports, fifty-six year old Greg Maclennan fell over board around six on Thursday evening. According to boat captain Hector Allen, earlier that day Maclennan, his brother and a friend hired him to take them on a fishing trip near Spanish Caye, located about twelve miles from the old capital. But as they headed home, Allen says an inebriated Maclennan, who was sitting on the bow of the boat, fell over and disappeared beneath the waves. Responding to Allen’s call for help, the Police Department, the Belize National Coast Guard and the Belize Defence Force Airwing launched an investigation into the incident. Around eleven thirty this morning, Maclennan was found near Spanish Lookout Caye. His body has been transported to Belize City where a post mortem will be conducted.
