B.E.L. helps eight students attend U.B.
And while on the subject of scholarships, U.W.I. was not the only institution offering opportunities to Belizean University students.

Belize Electricity Limited, today, awarded eight students from across the country with tuition scholarships to the University of Belize. And according to Dawn Sampson, Manager of Corporate Communications for the company, selecting the recipients was no easy task.
Dawn Sampson, Manager of Corporate Communications, B.E.L.
?This year we had about forty-six students apply to our programme. And I can tell you, I sat on that committee and it was difficult to select eight awardees. Because of that we are very confident that they will excel in their studies and make us proud.?
For the recipients, this award is the opportunity of a lifetime.
Nicole Funez, Scholarship Recipient
?Well this is a big deal, I am very grateful. It?s the first time I?ve won something like this so I?m really excited and dedicated as well. It?s something really work hard for, but dedication helps a lot. And I?m doing pharmacy, because I really want to help people, helping with the medical field, with nursing. My family isn?t rich or anything so I really appreciate this, and they are all happy and excited for me.?
Francelia Linarez, Scholarship Recipient
?I applied for it and knowing that I was successful, was like a dream come true for me. I am so proud to be one of the scholarship recipients, and I?m going to try my best to accomplish all my needs and qualities that the scholarship needs me to get done.?
Alyssa Noble
?Is there any advice you have for other students out there who may be encountering difficulties or obstacles in pursuit of higher education? Is there anything you?d like to tell them??
Francelia Linarez
?Never give up hope, there?s always rooms open, doors open. Just try your best, work hard at all times. Be determined; be disciplined and dedicated in whatever you do.?
To date, B.E.L has invested over $200,000 dollars in the university scholarship programme.
