Mark Seawell’s extradition still pending in court

In another extradition attempt, the case against Mark Seawell, wanted in the United States on drug-related charges, has been adjourned yet again, following a medical emergency which impeded attorney Arthur Saldivar from appearing on his behalf.  Seawell has been languishing in prison since being detained a few years ago and today Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin threatened to strike out the matter should he reappear in court without legal representation.  Since his detention, Sewell’s attorney maintained that the matter is one of habeas corpus; however, the chief justice told the court this morning that he does not see any exigency on the part of Seawell’s attorney, especially since he has been on remand for over two years.  Present in court on behalf of the attorney general was Magali Perdomo.  The case has been adjourned to August first.
