Three arrested in shooting of shopkeeper
Police have made three arrests in connection with the shooting of a businessman last week Thursday. Twenty-four year old Ricky Valencia of Queen Charlotte Street along with twenty-eight year old Marlon Budran and twenty-two year old Lancelot Flowers, both of Wagner’s Lane in Belize City, appeared before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord this morning. They have been charged with Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm, Robbery and Deadly Means of Harm. The three are accused of ambushing Hoa Ming Huang in front of his house on Queen Charlotte Street. The forty-three year old victim reported to police that around midnight on Thursday, he and his wife were confronted by five armed masked men. Even though the group’s demand for money was met, as he handed over a thousand dollars in cash and a cell phone, the thieves fired three shots at the couple. Hoa fell to the ground, suffering from gunshot wounds to his hip and abdomen, while the attackers sped off in a blue car. Police say they are still looking for another man, Alex Underwood, in connection with the incident.
