One of two suspects arrested for city shooting
Following a drive-by shooting over the weekend, police have arrested and charged a Belize City resident of the crime. This morning twenty-two year old Robert Jones appeared before Magistrate Margaret Gabb were he was arraigned on the charges of Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm, and Use of Deadly Means of Harm against Leon Garcia. According to police, Jones is one of two men believed to have shot at the eighteen year old Garcia on Saturday. The victim has told police that he was on his veranda on Castle Street hanging out with friends when a green car with tinted glass drove pass. Seconds later, someone lowered a window and fired five shots in his direction. Garcia received bullet wounds to his chest and back. Tonight we understand police are also seeking nineteen year old Errol Haynes, Jones’ alleged accomplice, in connection with the incident.
