Cable company believes robbery is an inside job

A Belize City cable company has been touched for seven thousand dollars … but the jacking may not be all that it seems. A spokesperson for Baymen Cable told News Five that they strongly believe a Monday night robbery at their Baymen Avenue Headquarters was the result of an inside job. According to the spokesperson, around seven thirty their-in house security guard was held up at gun point by a man who jumped their fence to get into the compound. The security guard was then taken to the entrance of the office. Inside the building at the time was the company’s studio technician, Michael Logan, who after seeing the guard through the glass door, buzzed him inside.

Logan told police there were two robbers who rushed into the office and held him up at gun point. He reported that he feared for his life and handed over ten thousand dollars, after which the men fled the building. The company spokesperson says he is not buying the story and believes Logan knows more than he has been telling authorities.

The spokesperson told News Five it was seven thousand dollars that was taken from them but whoever stole the money had knowledge of exactly where the cash was kept, because the money was not stored at one location. According to the Baymen representative, the robber knew exactly where to go. Furthermore our source said the way the locks were removed from one office inside the building tells him that the person was also familiar with the security arrangements.

It seems that the police are also suspicious of the report as Logan continues to be detained. Authorities would not comment on whether Logan is being considered a prime suspect, saying only that they continue to question him. Logan has been working at the cable company for three years.
