Man found guilty of burlgarizing his mother’s home

Story PictureIn the courts, forty year old Orlando Diaz, a construction worker of Banak Street was found guilty of Burglary this morning, that is, the burglary of his mother’s house in November of 2008. On that day Diaz was spotted coming out of Maggie Logan’s house with an assortment of items including, a pot, a water hose, a pink quilt and food items. The stolen items belonged to Diaz’ sister-in-law, Ardett Patnett, who testified in court and placed Diaz at the scene. Diaz claimed he was innocent, saying he was at work and showed a receipt that he had purchased fuel on the day, but that was in the afternoon and the crime was committed in the morning. Senior Magistrate Flowers told him his defense was weak and that she believed the prosecutor had proven his case of burglary. Diaz begged the court for leniency and Magistrate Flowers imposed a non custodial sentence of three thousand dollars to be paid by September thirtieth. Court records show that Diaz has one previous conviction for aggravated assault.
