Exclusive Performance by Lova Boy at Be the Next Superstar!
Earlier we told you about our award winning stories that have gain regional recognition. Well tonight, there is an award winning artist, entrepreneur, businessman and musician. He is called the Prince of Belize…we are referring to Lova Boy. He arrived in the jewel this morning for an exclusive appearance and performance at Tuesday’s Grand Finale of Be the next Superstar. A superstar in his own right, Lova Boy is an avid supporter of the show which aims to pool talent and take them to national recognition. It’s been a year since he has been back home and Lova Boy says that Tuesday night’s performance will be one of a kind.

“It’s a pleasure and a blessing to be brought in to make an appearance on the Be the Next Superstar Show. I am so overjoyed and humbled by the invitation. And I also deh yah fi kick off the promotion of my brand new album, Victorious.”

“Be the Next Superstar is all about Belizean local talent, at a young age, putting it out on stage. It is just something that you are used to. Tell us about where you see talent going in Belize—for Belize, for Belizean artists?”
Lova Boy
“I believe that from everything weh I done see so far, we di make the strides ina the right direction. I noticed that they have a lot of talented people and one of the things I am most proud of is Belize taking a more and more self-sufficient stance whereby we are so proud of us being Belizeans. We are not trying to emulate, we are doing less and less of that and I di figure that that most important and I’m so proud of the contestants I see so far.”

“Going on that stage tomorrow, what is it that people can expect?”
Lova Boy
“I believe that as long as god is willing, tomorrow I plan to give a hundred and fifty million, zillion percent and I just hope that the audience would enjoy it and that’s all I can do.”

“Now moving on from Superstar; this dah about Lova Boy. You said that you are going to be releasing your new album. Tell us about the name of the album and what people can expect from this new album?”

“Well the name of the album is victorious and the release date is Independence Day, September twenty-first. I am just so overjoyed to be in a position to be putting out music. I haven’t been back to Belize in a year to perform and to be honest, there is two things. There are things weh you could control and things weh yo can’t. I done do the part weh I could control which is go ina di studio. I team up with some great musicians—salute to Nuru, salute to Yougn Chris. And we do the best album that we saw fit and so the rest dah up to the audience and we could only hope. And I could tell you so far, the records weh release, I could not ask for a better reception. So god is good all the time. I did an entire song in Garifuna which for Lova Boy is very different. The name is Bowbe, a traditional record made popular by the Coolie Rebels and now I did my version. I did a song in Spanish, en Español and I’m very excited about that. I did my first gospel record which is called God’s pickney; we will be preparing the video tomorrow morning on the Open Your Eyes Show. So I am very excited I’m very confident ina this record so I really hope that the audience getting on the same page.”

“And we are really sensing a growth. I have spoken with you before in the past and different…to a different level…impressed. So what is it that you are coming here to show the other artists to be as successful as you because you are one of the few musicians that have made it successfully when it comes to this industry?”
Lova Boy
“Well I must say that I’m very humble by the invitation because I don’t take the opportunities lightly. For people to just invite the Prince here. It really is not about Lova Boy; it is about the contestants who are doing such a beautiful job and I feel just so blessed to be a part of this whole process. I deh pan di plane and I super excited and I dah like yo I wah get fi meet the contestants in person. My whole idea is remember…never forgetting weh part di Prince come from.”
Lova Boy’s new album, Victorious, will be released on September twenty-first, Independence Day.
