Dance camp plans big finale
Summer programmes for children are covering everything from sports to computers. Tonight News Five’s Alyssa Noble visits one initiative that has the kids moving in many positive ways.

This week, members of Zoe Ministries are holding a dance camp for kids five years and older. Marcella Meighan, Coordinator of the camp, says the kids are experiencing more than just how to move their feet.

?Throughout the three days and today, they have learned that confidence and commitment to what they have learned is very key. And we can tell that it?s something they will be leaving with tomorrow evening after all this is over with.?
For the participants, the camp has had an impact.
Karen Munnings, Participants
?Our instructors were very nice. They helped us as much as they could. They gave us lots of learning, and we really enjoyed it.?
Kyra Young, Participants
?Well next week I?m going to ask my mom if we can find some other dance camp or something like that, so I can continue my dancing and improve.?
Nia Arthurs, Participants
?Let them be stars and let them do what they plan to do since they were small. Let them go outside, let them do all kinda things that they wanted to do instead of going out. Since there are a lot of men out there, instead of going out there they can come here and have lots of fun.?
Johnelle McKenzie, Participants
?We were made to praise the Lord. And we do it through dance. For so long too many people have been using dance not to praise the Lord and we as Christians just want to showcase this night, Friday night, to praise the Lord and to let people see that it?s fun and it?s exciting.?
The one week camp will end tomorrow with a performance by all participants.
Marcella Meighan
?Since Monday the children have been learning dances and we have been working with them since then until today. Today we have been practicing these dances; tomorrow we have full rehearsals for our show tomorrow night at seven p.m. right here at the Parish Hall.?
As for next year…
Marcella Meighan
?Hopefully next year, God?s will, we will not just have one camp but we are planning on having a whole ?lotta? camps.?

Tickets for tomorrow night’s show are five dollars for adults and two for kids.
