Roaring Creek resident found guilty of incest

In the courts today, the thirty-nine year old father of an eleven year old girl was found guilty of the heinous crime of Incest. A jury deliberated for less than two hours and found the Roaring Creek resident guilty of three counts of Incest, three counts of Unnatural Crime and one count of Threat of Death. The young child was abused between 2003 and 2006, even after she had moved to Belize City from Roaring Creek. On each encounter, according to the child’s testimony, her father would threaten to kill her if she told her mother or anyone about what he was doing. The jury’s decision was unanimous on all counts and the man is behind bars and awaiting sentencing by Justice Troadio “John” Gonzalez in the Belmopan Supreme Court. The father, who testified under oath, maintained his innocence and denied having sex with his daughter. In 2008, the case was first called up, but the man was a no show. When he was contacted by cell, he said he was on his way but he never turned up in court. A bench warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest.
