Nicholi Rhys; once charged for murder….now for handling stolen goods

Nicholi Rhys

Twenty-two year old Nicholi Rhys is no stranger to the courts and this morning he was back to answer a charge of Handling Stolen Goods. Rhys has beaten a murder charge and has pending charges before the courts for harm and Possession of Controlled Drugs. But today, Rhys was before Magistrate Hettie Mae Stewart in respect of a stolen I-Phone belonging to Earl Perez that was allegedly found on him. Perez is a resident of Rancho Dolores; he has complained to the police that while he and two family members were in his parked vehicle on September tenth, a man pushed his hand inside the vehicle and grabbed his phone. Perez claims he also saw the alleged thief hand over the phone to another man who was standing in the area. The phone, valued at one thousand two hundred dollars, was soon later found in Rhys’ possession.  In court, Rhys pleaded not guilty to the offense and since there was no objection to bail, Magistrate Stewart offered bail in the sum of one thousand dollars which he was able to meet before noon today. Rhys, who is a reputed associate of the George Street Gang, earlier this year, beat the murder charge in respect of Andre Trapp, the leader of Southside Gang who was gunned down on June tenth, 2010 in front of the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.
