Second UB student, Micah Tillett, charged for murder of Jamal Neal

Before the courts closed today, police escorted eighteen year old University of Belize student, Micah Tillett, to the Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with the Murder of Jamal Anthony Neal.  Tillett appeared before Magistrate Hettie Mae Stewart, but when he returns to court, he will appear before the Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer. Before leaving the court room, Tillett complained to the magistrate that he was not given an opportunity to notify his relatives of the charge against him because police claimed that it would have delayed his arraignment.   Magistrate Stewart responded that before she signs a warrant for Tillett’s committal to prison, she must get confirmation that he has been afforded a call to his relatives. Tillett will now join behind bars, another U.B. Student, Jedd Allan Burgess of Tibruce Street, who was arraigned back on July nineteenth for Neal’s murder. Neal was killed on July eighteenth just after he made a phone call to his mother.  Two men rode up on bicycle on Banak Street; one of them opened fire, killing Neal.
