Investigation into a passport fast-tracked to a South Korean National in detention caused Penner’s demise

Elvin Penner

And now to the facts of the story…why was Ministry of State so summarily and brutally dismissed? Using the trail of breadcrumbs to the Immigration Department so thoughtfully provided by the Prime Minister, News Five did some digging today. Although nobody was providing any official information, we were able to get some confirmation. To start with, Penner’s abrupt departure came about as a result of an investigation into a South Korean national who was detained in Taiwan in early August. That man is allegedly wanted in connection with several criminal matters including fraud. Sometime in early September, while the South Korean national was in detention in Taiwan, a Belizean passport in his name was processed and issued expeditiously. But there are irregularities in that passport, and some doubt that the person pictured on the document is the man for whom it was issued – that makes sense, since when the passport was issued in September, the South Korean was under detention in Taiwan. The nationality document which was relied upon for the passport is also under investigation. The allegation is that Penner facilitated the fast-tracking of the passport but again, that has not been confirmed pending an official Ministry of Immigration investigation. As the PM’s release confirmed, it is believed that high level public officers are being fingered in the investigation, the result of which is being eagerly anticipated. Meanwhile, Penner’s head has rolled; suggesting that evidence of his involvement in the matter was so clearly laid out that there was no need to wait for the results of an investigation.

It is a matter of national disgrace that Belize as a country could not have found a retired belizean nurse, doctor or healthcare professional to name as her minister for Health and has a professional electrician as head of the health ministry. It is no wonder that countless children die annually at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and elsewhere.
