Janitor allegedly steals over $55,000 worth of jewelry from J.E.C.
A Belize City janitor, police say stole over fifty-five thousand dollars worth of jewelry, is tonight out on a bail of thirty thousand dollars. Reports are that between July eleventh of 2012 and October first 2013, forty-nine year old Dawn Baizar, a domestic of Balan Street, allegedly managed to steal from J.E.C. twenty-six pairs of gold earrings, valued at almost twenty-five thousand dollars; and an assortment of chains, bangles bracelets and necklaces…all to the tune of fifty-five thousand three hundred and thirty dollars. And today, when Baizar appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer, she was charged with a whopping nineteen charges: one count of Theft and eighteen counts of handling stolen goods. In court, Baizar was unrepresented. No plea was taken and since there was no objection to bail by prosecutor, Inspector Rodriguez, Baizar was offered bail in the sum of thirty thousand dollars plus one surety of the same amount, which she met. She was also to surrender all her travel documents.
