National Women’s Softball Team wins one game
Belize’s National Softball team has not fared well at the Seventh Pan American Women’s Championships. The event is being held in Maracay, Venezuela and Tuesday night we reported that the team suffered two straight losses against Cuba and the Dominican Republic. To stay in the competition, the team also had to win last night’s game against Ecuador. Belize won that game with a score of seven to five. The winning pitcher was Janell Smith. There was little time for celebration as the team had two other games to play today. In game one the Jewel’s pitcher was Mary Flowers who faced off with the Nethelands Antilles’ Ruzelin Kinburn. The island won with a score of two to one. In game two team Belize tried to stand its ground against the United States but it really took a packing. The U.S. won with a score of fifteen to zero. Ouch! Team Belize has two more scheduled games with El Salvador and Panama.
