Victims trail robbers, leads to arrest of five
Five men were remanded to Hattieville Prison today after being arraigned on robbery charges and handling stolen goods. Nineteen year old Aaron Brooks, twenty year old Wilfred Peters, thirty-six year old Arthur Benneth, twenty year old Cardinal Coleman and twenty-four year old Kareem Benneth appeared this morning before Chief Magistrate Herbert Lord and pleaded not guilty to the charges. The five men were arrested after three people reported that they had been robbed at gunpoint while at the Buttonwood Bay Park. According to Kishaka Williams, Atlee Matute and Errol Reneau, they were hanging out in the park on Friday night when a tinted green Mazda pulled up. Four men got out wearing masks and armed with a handgun. The victims were relieved of their cell phones, a camera, jewellery, a wallet and a baseball cap. The thieves made good their escape but Williams, Matute and Reneau were hot on their heels, and followed the vehicle to get its license plate number. They then took that information to the police station where they made a report. The following day, the victims spotted the getaway car in Ladyville and called in the cops. Inside the vehicle, police found five men and the three cell phones that matched the description given by the victims. The case has been adjourned until July twenty-seventh.
