The Garifuna Collective return from European Tour
The Garifuna Collective has been promoting the Garifuna culture—not only locally but way beyond our borders in North America and Europe. The group has just completed a successful tour of Europe where they performed special events in major cities. On this tour the Garifuna Collective promoted their newest release, Ayo, which pays tribute to musical legend, Andy Palacio. Band members dropped by our studios today for an update on the tour.
Joshua Arana, Garifuna Collective
“The tour was really great, the reception was really good, we came across lots of Belizeans who came to support us especially in London and also in Brussels.”
Al Ovanda, Garifuna Collective
“The mission was to go to this new place, take the Belizean music, take the Belizean idea, the whole Belizean movement to these new areas and finds new markets to prepare for next year’s tour. People come out, they saw the band, they want the band already for their festival but they saw the band play to confirm that yes we want this Belizean music on our stage for 2014.”
Ayo is available in music stores across the country.
