Corozal residents charged following chopping frenzy
Today one man lies critically injured in the K.H.M.H. and five others are recovering from wounds they received at the hands of a machete-wielding family in Cristo Rey, Corozal. According to reports, six youths were on the bleachers in a park in Cristo Rey making noise. Villager Guadencio Che approached them and asked them to keep it quiet. Che then left to go home, and the youths allegedly followed and started stoning the house. That incensed the Che family, which attacked the youths with machetes. When the chopping frenzy was done all six youths were badly injured. Kenroy Choc was cut on his left shoulder, left arm and received five chop wounds to the head. Manuel Choc received a chop wound to the head. A sixteen year old minor was chopped on his left hand, while a fifteen year old received a large cut wound to the back of the head. Ezequel Pook received three cut wounds to the head and Carlos Lizarraga was chopped on the head. Lizarraga was rushed to the K.H.M.H. in critical condition. Police immediately detained four members of the Che family and all four were arraigned in court today. Shayan Che was charged with wounding and dangerous harm. Luis Che was charged with wounding. Guadencio was charged with wounding and Mirella Che was charged with dangerous harm and deadly means of harm. All four were offered and met bail, with the condition that they are to report to the Corozal Police Station every Monday. They are scheduled to reappear in court on November twenty-second.
