Lone activist, “Faada” Henry sets Eric Chang ablaze

Activist Phillip ‘Faada’ Henry was on center stage in Battlefield Park this morning. He is enraged at the passport fiasco and calling for the U.D.P. to pack up and leave. And he had a lot more to say besides that. Much of it was unfit for national television, but the man is passionate about his cause. Today the always outspoken, always bold activist targeted missing City Councilor Eric Chang. Chang has been out of the country since September third, and doesn’t seem too eager to return. And maybe that’s smart, since his name has been called in the passport scandal. Today, Henry put his lighter where his mouth is and set Eric Chang aflame.

“I asked the Mayor to terminate his services for the fact that Belizean people are paying his money to his pocket and he is abroad. We don’t need Eric Chang any more in this country because it seems that Eric Chang has something to do with this, and he’s been out of the country too long. I am informed that the United States Government is waiting for him to approach Miami and they will pick him up and do some investigation on Eric Chang which I applaud the US government for that. I want to send this message to the United Democratic Party government…this is the time. You have failed us, and when you fail us you know exactly what to do – pack up your suitcase and leave. I want to say this to Godwin Hulse, because I will not call you honourable for the fact that you have to realize that you’re a senior citizen who was once against this government – who brought all sorts of transparency that you were going to do to make the country better. I heard you in your press conference use the words Law and Order the movie. Well Godwin Hulse let me say this to you. I am not a fool and the people of Belize are not fools. This is not a movie, this is real. This is our passport. So listen what I want to do with you Godwin Hulse. I’ve already ordered a place for you in Sister Cecilia Home. You’re a senior citizen and you need to be placedin sister Cecilia Home. You have no right to be in the ministry for the fact that you know what is going on…you know exactly what is going on. So you’re a failure to the people of this nation. You’re not doing a good job. You said that if it was your mother or father you would arrest them…well listen to me Godwin Hulse you sound so stupid because it is a minister you your Cabinet.”

As if waiting for the flames as a signal, Police arrived on the scene and with little ceremony informed Henry that what he had done was not allowed in a public space. They escorted him to the Queen Street Police Station where he was scolded, then released.
