Two year old human remains found at Silk Grass
Dangriga police are tonight investigating an apparent homicide following the discovery of a human skull and bones near Silk Grass village. According to investigating officers, around six thirty on Monday morning, a farmer from the village was clearing a piece of land off a feeder road in an area known as “Pine Ridge”. But in a patch of palmetto, the farmer found a fully intact skull. A search of the area later turned up a shallow grave measuring three feet by two and about ten inches deep. Inside laid a number of human bones. It is suspected that recent rains may have flooded the area and exposed the burial site. Tonight sources close to the investigation reveal that the victim may have died violently as there are what appears to be chop marks on the ribs and pelvic bones. Police continue to search for clues to the identity of the victim and are running a check of missing person records over the last two years, which is how long it is estimated the bones may have been buried. The remains have since been collected and sent for forensic analysis. Residents tell News Five that the grave is near a path used by workers to access the nearby citrus and banana farms.
