Missing girl found safe but many questions remain
Tonight we are happy to report that thirteen year old Daniela Olivera, better known as “Marcela”, is back home alive and well. This morning sometime after seven, the standard five St. Ignatius student was found by her vice principal on Amara Avenue. According to the educator, after receiving a tip she went to the area where she saw the young girl on her bicycle. As we reported last night, the girl failed to return to her family on Sunday evening after being sent to buy some pampers at a neighbourhood shop. Investigations have revealed that Olivera was staying at a small wooden house on Central American Boulevard where it is believed several men resided.
Police would not comment on how they are treating the case but Olivera told News Five that she did not run away from home. According to the teenager, after she reached the shop on Central American Boulevard two men stole her gold earrings. She was directed to find the robbers at a nearby house but when she went there the men refused to return the earrings. Olivera said she was scared to go home without her jewellery because she believed she would have gotten into trouble.
It is not certain what occurred inside the house or why the adults present kept the minor at the residence for two consecutive nights, but that’s just one of many troubling questions the police are now trying to answer.
