D.P.P. says she hasn’t seen the police investigation into passport scandal
The passport scandal has dominated the media for weeks, night after night, and tonight there is still more to report. Elvin Penner is back in the country, and is awaiting meetings with his executive committee and the Prime Minister before he makes a decision on whether he will accept the invitation by his leader to resign. Pending that decision, the opposition, P.U.P., has reached the threshold which will trigger the recall mechanism. The Party has stated that it will continue the signature drive into this weekend. The Ministry of Immigration is mum, with the team of Minister Godwin Hulse, C.E.O. Candelaria Saldivar and Director of Immigration Maria Marin handling the evidence themselves. Police were called in only after Arthur Saldivar circulated copies of nationality documents. And today, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Cheryl-Lynn Vidal, confirmed that she has not been handed any files for her input and advice, and her belief is that the police investigation is still in a very preliminary stage. Commissioner of Police Allen Whylie is out of the country. News Five spoke to Deputy Commissioner of Police Elodio Aragon Jr., who told us that he is not up to speed with what the investigating team has found so far. He did tell us that the team worked through the weekend, and has been talking to people. The man leading the investigation is Assistant Commissioner of Police and the Director of the National Crimes Investigation Branch Russell Blackett. We tried to reach him today but were told he is out of office.

If from the Prime Minister, to all the ministers, the investigative branches and the very Police department, has to do as they are told, who should the common Belizean demand justice from? The Ombudsman? The PUP should have been leading this protest poste haste, but nothing of any kind organizing. This thing is far bigger, and far reaching than even our wildest imaginations. More shocking revelations are yet to come.
Police Elodio Aragon Jr., who told us that he is not up to speed with what the investigating.
I think for Elodio to get up to speed he should be arrested, because even guys in prison seem to know more than both the Commissioner and now the Deputy Commissioner put together.
