Man charged for fatal traffic accident
A traffic accident which occurred thirteen days ago at the junction of the Burrell Boom/Hattieville Road has claimed the life of a Ladyville resident. As a result, thirty-nine year old Edison Dawson was charged this morning for traffic offences: Manslaughter by Negligence, Causing Death by Careless Conduct and Driving Motor Vehicle without due care and attention in the traffic fatality that took the life of Fabian Jacobo Martinez. The accident occurred on October twelfth, 2013 at around five in the afternoon at the Fresh Pond junction with Burrell Boom. Martinez was driving a motorcycle when he was crushed by an SUV driven at the time by Dawson. He sustained massive head and body injuries. Dawson reportedly told police that he crashed into the motorcycle because the driver turned without indicating. But police say that at the scene, they saw the motorcycle’s indicator still blinking when it was lifted from the ground where it had landed. Martinez’s family also believes that speeding was involved and that after Martinez was slammed and he landed on the road, the vehicle rolled over him. Edison Dawson next court date is set for December second, 2013.
