Supermarket robbed of over $17,000
Still up north, thieves made off with a sizeable loot when they hit the Nineteen Miles Supermarket in Sandhill. The loss to owners tallied up to the tune of over seventeen thousand dollars and when we spoke to co-owner of the store, Brian Liou, he told us he thinks they were being watched because the burglars knew just where to find the money. Liou says they had just returned from Belize City around two o’clock this morning when they noticed that the business had been burglarized.
Brian Liou, 19 Miles Supermarket
“We saw the door was break in and we try to find out how much money I lost. I figure I lost my twelve hundred and also my passport and ID, Social Security Card and my friend lost seventeen thousand.”
Marion Ali
“Your friend is a co-partner in the business?”
Brian Liou
“Yes.”
Marion Ali
“What’s his name?”
Brian Liou
“His name is Emi.”
Marion Ali
“What were you doing with that kind of money in your store? You always keep that money here?”
Brian Liou
“The money used to doing business; buying phone cards, to pay Boledo and some grocery. The money is just used for business. But last night something dramatical happened you know; we just lost seventeen grand.”
Marion Ali
“You think its somebody who knows the business and how you operate?”
Brian Liou
“I think some people know. Probably they planned this thing long time.”
Marion Ali
“They were watching your movements?”
Brian Liou
“Yeah, maybe they watch our movement.”
The burglars gained access to the store by unscrewing the locks from the back doors. Police continue to investigate.
