Belize to compete in Central American Boxing Championship in Nicaragua

A pair of Belizean boxers, led by Coach Leopold Smart and Boxing Association President Moses Sulph, left for Managua, Nicaragua this evening, where they will compete in the Central American Boxing Championship.  If successful, the pugilists will qualify for the 2014 Commonwealth Games to be held in Veracruz, Mexico.  News Five spoke with Moses Sulph and Max Williams prior to their departure.

Moses Sulph

“We will embarking on a journey to Managua, Nicaragua to partake in the Central American Boxing Championship which is also the road to going to the Commonwealth Game in Mexico if we qualify for next year. At this time we are taking two boxers—Mister Sherman Galvez and Mister Max Williams. There are the ones who at this time will be representing us. There is also another promising young man in Cayo we wanted to take, but we are unable to at this time. I really would like to give my appreciation to those who have given us an opportunity to partake in the Central American Boxing Championship. We must give thanks to Smart.”

“I’ve been preparing myself from I came back from the Central American Games in march. So I’ve been in the gym from them trying to work out, trying to lose weight; trying to get in a good shape to go out there because the competition that I faced in the Central American Games, it was kinda rough, but I could have been much better. So I’m just trying to get in a good shape for this Commonwealth thing now.”
