…while would be robber gets 3 years in jail
Meanwhile, a Belize City resident was also found guilty today of attacking a woman and trying to steal her purse. In February, Rebecca Emmanuel told police that while walking on Dolphin Street, she was pushed to the ground by a man and her purse forcibly taken from her hands. But Emmanuel wasn’t about to admit defeat and as the thief hotfooted it from the scene, she took off behind him. Luckily, police sergeant Andres Makin was in the area and detained the culprit. That man was later identified as twenty-eight year old Eugene Conorquie. Following trial in Belize City Magistrate’s Court, Conorquie was found guilty of attempted robbery, damage to property and harm. He has been sentenced to three years in jail.
