Escaped convicts sentenced for breakout
In September of last year, four minors on remand for murder, escaped from Hattieville prison. They survived on the lam for two days before they were captured by police. In the course of their breakout they beat up and critically injured prison guard Maxwell Torres. Today, those convicts: Robert Gillett, Alfonso Juarez, Carlos Coronado–all seventeen years of age–along with sixteen year old Cameron Blease, appeared before Magistrate Sharon Fraser where they pled guilty to escape and were sentenced to three months in jail. Blease and Gillett, who were responsible for the brutal assault on Torres, were also found guilty of wounding. Both those defendants received additional jail time of nine months.
