Accused murderer walks in Requeña case
An accused killer walked out of court a free man today, but that freedom turned out to be short-lived because authorities immediately rearrested him for the attempted murder of another victim. In February 2005, twenty-one year old Evan Neal was charged with the murder of twenty-seven year old Sherwin Requeña. However, during the preliminary inquiry into the incident today, Magistrate Sharon Fraser told the court “there is insufficient evidence against Evan Neal to substantiate a charge of murder or make out a prima facie case.” The murder charge was dismissed, but Neal was immediately charged with conspiracy to commit murder and the attempted murder and dangerous harm of Donna Magdalena Cayetano. The young woman was injured as she stood next to Requeña when he was gunned down. As for the second defendant in the murder, seventeen year old Edward Lord, his case has been adjourned to June twenty-seventh when it is expected to be committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
