Woman charged for stabbing another outside a club
A woman was stabbed outside a club on Monday night and police believe they have been able to crack the case. Today, twenty-nine year old Denay Gillett, a resident and cashier of Fern Lane in Belize City, was arraigned for wounding twenty-seven year old Michelle Gordon. Gillett, who was unrepresented, appeared before Magistrate Clive Lino and pleaded not guilty to the charge. According to a police report, on Monday, they visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw twenty-seven year old Michelle Gordon, suffering from three apparent stab wounds to the left upper leg and one to the right upper leg. Initial investigation revealed that at about two-thirty that morning, Gordon was at a popular cool spot located on Lawrence Avenue in Belize City, socializing when she had an argument with one Denay Gillett inside the club. Minutes later, Gordon went outside where she met Gillett who pulled out a knife and inflicted stab wounds to her body. Police say that they were handed over a black handle knife which was retrieved from the scene of the stabbing incident. Gillett obtained bail and her next court date is set for December sixteenth, 2013.
