Channing Garoy remanded after pulling a gun at a party

A Belize City man is behind bars tonight after he was accused of pulling a gun while at a party. Twenty-five year old Channing Garoy, a resident and Construction Worker of North Creek in Belize City was arraigned this afternoon with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a firearm upon Justin Baptist and Brandon Palacio, his two friends. Garoy was additionally charged with theft of a cell phone belonging to Baptist valued at eight hundred dollars. Today in Court, Garoy appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Cline Lino and pleaded not guilty to both charges. The alleged gunplay occurred on November second, 2013 at a party where Garoy and the two victims were socializing. Garoy is accused of stealing Baptist’s cell phone which allegedly rang while inside Garoy’s pocket. Garoy left immediately from the party he returned where the two men confronted him once again about the missing phone but Garoy chose to leave again. Minutes later he returned with a firearm and that’s when the two men said he fired three shots in their direction but he missed. Police apprehended Garoy this morning and an identification parade was conducted. Both victims were able to indentified their attacker as Garoy.
