Greenwood finally brings his sons abuse by TPU to light

During the hour-long event an allegation was also made against an officer attached to the Tourism Police Unit, who reportedly manhandled Greenwood’s son a year ago. The matter is just coming to light, says Greenwood, because he hoped relations would improve with the Tourism Police Unit. While News Five has made several attempts to confirm Greenwood’s account, we were unable to ascertain whether an official report of the incident was ever filed. FECTAB is now demanding the immediate removal of that officer from the tourism village.

“A rogue corporal of the TPU [Tourism Police Unit] and I will mention his name, he’s still out there, Corporal Berry, with a gun at his side. He setup my son last November and I have proof of the way he used radios to point out where I was. That day I was up in Orange Walk transferring some people and he went out there and ordered a violation ticket be issued against my son, despite the fact that my son was displaying his license. And when my son objected to that the corporal grabbed him by the neck and used his fists to hammer him across the temple and then he ordered him detained. And my son then said, “You knock me boss! Noh even my pa knock me!” [Corporal Berry replied,] “Shut up or I’ll give you some more.” By then my son was in manacles. Berry, the rogue, went back to my son grabbed him again used his fists again across my sons temples. My son suffers daily headaches, my son may eventually end up being crippled. This is an attack that had it taken place while I was there I would either be dead or in the jail, that’s for sure. This is the kind of human being that the BTB has out there with a gun at his side? I address myself to the commander of the TPU, take Berry off the streets of the tourism village Do it now!”
A meeting with the Belize Tourism Board and other cruise tourism stakeholders to discuss an amicable solution prior to the start of the high season remains to be held.
