Kimberly Goff

This evening, thirty-three-year-old Kimberly Goff and thirty-four-year old Alma Gabourel Choc were charged with the theft of more than nineteen thousand dollars from James Brodie and Company Ltd., a Belize City store that has been serving the community for over a hundred and twenty-five years. Both former employees were arraigned before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser on a single charge each of theft. Choc is accused of stealing twelve thousand, one hundred and eighty five dollars and thirty six cents between October twenty-first and November tenth. Goff, on the other hand, is accused of stealing six thousand, eight hundred and eighty eight dollars and forty eight cents.

Alma Gabourel Choc

On Tuesday, the financial comptroller of James Brodie and Company Ltd. on the Philip Goldson Highway discovered that almost twenty thousand dollars had been misappropriated from the company. Records revealed that fraudulent receipts had been used in the store and a subsequent police investigation led to the arrests of the two women, who were cashiers at the store at the time. Gabourel-Choc was offered bail in the sum of ten thousand dollars and is due back in court on January twentieth, 2014. Goff was offered bail of five thousand dollars and is to return to court on December thirty-first, 2013.
