Bicycle thief sentenced to ten years behind bars
In February, he was accused of stealing two bicycles and tonight, twenty year old Tyron Lopez is serving the first day of a ten year sentence for the crime. According to court reports, this morning Magistrate Sharon Fraser handed down two consecutive five year sentences to Lopez at the conclusion of a robbery case against him. The young man was arrested and charged after being positively identified by Jaime Hernandez and Mauricio Tzib as one of the two men who had threatened to shoot them if they didn’t hand over their bikes as they stood in front of a grocery store on Mahogany Street. Tzib testified that his beach cruiser was valued at one hundred and seventy-five dollars while Hernandez told the court that he had paid seventy dollars for his bike. News Five understands that Tyron Lopez has three previous convictions for theft.
