Two charged in shootout with police
Two men are tonight behind bars, charged with attempting to kill a police officer. This morning, thirty-two year old Jerome Goff and seventeen year old Lincoln Sinclar were arraigned before Magistrate Margaret Gabb for attempted murder, damage to property and aggravated assault. The charges stem from a report by Assistant Superintendent of Police Edward Broaster that around eight thirty on Sunday night he and other officers became involved in a high speed chase with the occupants of a small Toyota car. Broaster is alleging that during the pursuit, his squad car was fired upon, first by a shotgun and later by a handgun. The cops called for backup but the trigger-happy perpetrators eluded capture. Police did recover the abandoned vehicle, a twelve gauge pump action shotgun and a cell phone. With the help of those items, investigators say they were able to gather enough evidence to arrest Goff and Sinclar. In court today, the duos pleaded not guilty and have been remanded to Hattieville Prison until June seventh.
