PUP to hand over signatures to the GG to trigger referendum
The P.U.P. will reportedly be handing over signatures to the governor general to trigger a referendum in the Cayo Northeast. According to information from a P.U.P. source, over two thousand signatures have been collected, which is above the number required to trigger the recall of former Minister of State, Elvin Penner. The P.U.P. is fielding Orlando Habet to run in that constituency in the instance of the recall of Penner. Habet came within seventeen votes of Penner in the 2012 general elections. There is also word that in Belize Rural North, the People’s United Party will first go to convention before it begins to collect signatures for a recall of Edmond Castro, who is under fire for his involvement in a visa scandal.
