Chinese national pleads guilty to Manslaughter

Story PictureIn news from the courts, he shot and killed his friend in March 2008 and today, forty-one year old Yong Sheng Zhang, a Chinese national and businessman, pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of Manslaughter before Justice Michelle Arana. He had originally been charged with the Murder of Chi Cheong Chan. Last year on March twenty-sixth, at the Aluminum & Glass Factory at Mile two and a half on the Northern Highway, Zhang became involved in an argument with his wife, Ivy Chan. Zhang reportedly fired the fatal shot when Chi and his wife headed to their upstairs apartment. Chi died three days after. Justice Michelle Arana reserved sentencing on Zhang for August twelfth. Zhang is still facing a charge of Attempted Murder of Ivy who was shot in the hand in the same incident. And while Zhang was at the Queen Street Police Station in February waiting for trial, he was reportedly beaten up by five inmates of the Hattieville Prison. He suffered a bruised lip, swelling to the left side of the head and right foot and complained of abdominal pains. The five were charged with Wounding.
