Some monies to be allocated to alleviate Sarteneja/Chunox Road

Errol Gentle

While there is good news, albeit sometime in the future, for commuters between Orange Walk Town and Progresso, passengers on the Chunox-Sarteneja Road are forced to endure daily hell. The road into Sarteneja is under water, and even when it isn’t, it is more of a gutted, rugged path than a real road. Engineers from the Ministry of Works haven’t been able to do a proper assessment because of the flood, but when that is done, there is a commitment that some monies will be allocated to alleviate the problem.

Errol Gentle, C.E.O., Ministry of Works

“That road is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Works. The area is still flooded, we can’t do much work and that is the reason why we haven’t made an assessment of the damage and the cost it will be to rehabilitate the road just to the original standard. As soon as the water goes down in that area the engineers will be going in and they will be doing an assessment and we will be providing that estimate to the Ministry of Finance and they will be providing the funds for us as a part of this 2.2 million dollar package the Prime Minister spoke about.”

While Gentle claims that the money to fix the Chunox-Sarteneja Road will come from the two point two million allocated for immediate remedial work, we note that less than five hundred thousand dollars has been set aside for the entire Corozal district.

Fool talking but not fool listening. You could keep your lies to yourself I know personally I have heard enough BULLCRAP to last me a lifetime. Mr. CEO put the money where your mouth is and do some work for a change. I won’t hold my breath.

this government can’t maintain white stripes down the middle of the road on one two-lane highway. How much does that cost? How long would that take? How difficult would that be?

People can’t figure out the middle of the road, no wonder people avoid major potholes and have head on collisions.

Now Ali Baba says there is going to be multimillion dollar road improvements payed by other governments. These governments seem to be willing co-conspirators to let the Ali Baba band of fools squander their money.
