VIP says Christmas Cheer is “wasteful government spree”

As we said, government will be spending two point two million dollars on its Christmas cheer program. The Leader of the Opposition, Francis Fonseca complained on Tuesday over the lack of equity in the program saying that elected representatives should be getting the same amount of money for their constituents. Fonseca was also critical of government for including the UDP political caretakers in the Christmas cheer. But the Vision Inspired by the People has taken a different approach. The VIP says it sees the un-budgeted allocation of two point two million dollars for the (quote) Christmas Cheer as a misuse of public funds, the abuse of elected office and an outright act of corruption. (Unquote)  And according to the VIP and unapologetically so, Belizeans who partake in this wasteful government spree will have no moral right to complain about the potholes in our streets, the pathetic state of our education system, healthcare, public transportation, low wages, job shortage, and deplorable infra-structure. VIP also chastises Fonseca for seeming to be more interested in getting an equitable share of the funds than condemning what is deemed as corruption.

Amen to VIP. If the political parties want to buy votes, let them use their own money. Kudos to VIP on this one. Shame on both major political parties. Shame on the sycophants and whores who take this tainted money. They are the same ones who complain that the politicians are mashing up the country.
