Guatemalan fugitive arrested in Santa Elena, Cayo

Local authorities are patting themselves on the back tonight following the arrest of a Guatemalan fugitive in the Cayo district. Reports are that a joint task force comprised of Belize Police Officers and members of the Policia Nacional Civil visited an area in Santa Elena and were able to detain Fabio Galicia. Galicia is wanted in Guatemala on four counts of murder, two of the victims being police officers. A check with officers in the west yielded few details but we do know that Galicia was in Belize illegally so there was no delay in releasing him to Guatemalan law enforcement officials.
