Belize City tour guide charged for handling stolen goods

Also in court, a Belize City Tour guide was today charged for handling stolen goods after police allege that they found him in possession of stolen items belonging to Raymond Matus. Thirty-nine year old Austin Decosta, a resident of Castle Street in Belize City, appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Clive Lino and was read the single charge. According to police, on December twelfth, Raymond Matus reported that on his house was burglarized and stolen from inside were a video camera, headphone, DVD Player hair dryer, flat iron, radio and other items; all valued at over two thousand five hundred dollars and the property of Raymond Matus. The loot was discovered later that same day in Decosta’s possession. In court, Decosta pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered bail in the sum of four thousand dollars plus one surety of the same amount.  He is due back in court on March thirteenth, 2014.
