Police investigate rapes in Sarteneja and San Ignacio

Details are sketchy, but tonight there are reports of two rapes – one in Sarteneja and the other in San Ignacio. On Boxing Day Corozal Police received information of a female at the Corozal Hospital who claimed that she had been sexually assaulted. They visited the hospital and spoke to a woman who told them that sometime between December nineteenth and December twenty-third her eighteen year old, mentally challenged sister was raped by her stepfather. Also on Boxing Day, reports indicate that a teenage girl was allegedly raped near the Piache Bar in San Ignacio Town. The girl is currently at the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan for treatment. As we said details on both these crimes are sketchy, pending further investigations by Police.
